Hypochlorhydria

Hypochlorhydria is a condition in which the stomach is unable to produce hydrochloric acid (stomach acid). Stomach acid is required for the digestion of protein, the proper emptying and sterilization of the stomach, and the absorption of certain nutrients.

Without adequate stomach acid, a variety of problems can arise, including:

Gas and bloating
Food allergies
Candida dysbiosis or bacterial dysbiosis (imbalance in the natural flora of the gut).
Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD)
Improper digestion
Malabsorption of nutrients, leading to deficiency
Increased risk of osteoporosis, gut infections, and stomach cancer.
